No Drone's Lost, Mr. Christian!

This title could come from a future movie 'Mutiny On The Constitution'.

Well, maybe not the Constitution, but there are laws on the books, prohibiting the United States Government from conducting assassinations.

And, Jesus, President Obama's escalation of using Drones makes it look like the Cheney-Bush Regime was flying kites.

In case you were caught up with the Democrats' Debate (Anyone else think they put Jim Webb's head on an ill-fitting body, almost like Edgar the cockroach in MIB?), you missed the major news yesterday, a new whistle-blower has leaked classified documents detailing - and I mean detailing - the Obama Administrations Drone program.

Or, as 'The Intercept' has appropriately labeled it;

"DRONES ARE A TOOL, not a policy. The policy is assassination. While every president since Gerald Ford has upheld an executive order banning assassinations by U.S. personnel, Congress has avoided legislating the issue or even defining the word “assassination.” This has allowed proponents of the drone wars to rebrand assassinations with more palatable characterizations, such as the term du jour, “targeted killings.”

Nice euphemism "targeted killings", kinda puts to rest the previous one of choice - "Collateral Damage".

And, is there concern for innocent civilians who just happen to get a drone rocket to the face?

 The Obama Administration doesn't account for that, and has seemingly ordered an extra helping of evil;
The documents show that the military designated people it killed in targeted strikes as EKIA — “enemy killed in action” — even if they were not the intended targets of the strike. Unless evidence posthumously emerged to prove the males killed were not terrorists or “unlawful enemy combatants,” EKIA remained their designation, according to the source. That process, he said, “is insane. But we’ve made ourselves comfortable with that. The intelligence community, JSOC, the CIA, and everybody that helps support and prop up these programs, they’re comfortable with that idea.”
Get it - If we're aiming drones at them, everyone's a terrorist.

Digby offers today that there is, at least, one call for a Congressional Investigation, but don't bet your Fantasy Football winnings on that happening.

It's taken a few decades, but the Military Industrial Complex finally has what they have wanted - Perpetual War.

I'm sure there are bigger, faster, longer-flying, more powerful drones are already on the drawing board, if not, the production line

With Guantanamo still open, and Obama extending the military in Afghanistan another few years, he's an hero to these guys.

So, Paging the Nobel Committee!, the group that awarded Obama the Nobel Peace Prize.

They should rescind it, take it back, take it away.

And after that is done, they should all resign.
